The Associated Student Government teamed up with the American Red Cross to host the quarterly blood drive Monday and Tuesday in the Town and Gown Room — and both groups deserve a standing ovation.

The goal of the ASG coordinators and the Red Cross was to receive 100 pints of blood, which would be about four times as much as they collected in the last blood drive, according to volunteer Janine Johnston. Each pint of blood donated could save the lives of three people, according to the Red Cross flyers at the event.

We would like to congratulate the ASG for their hard work during the event. And we would like to extend a thank-you to the people who donated blood.

But you don’t have to stop there. The Red Cross is constantly in need of more blood. If you would like to donate again, or if you were unable to donate this time, there are always chances to donate again. You can contact the Red Cross at www.givelife.com or call 1-800-Give Life (1-800-448-3543)
