Artist Lindsey Oesterritter to visit MHCC, offer ceramics workshops
Lindsey Oesterritter is hosting a two-day class Oct. 30-31. She will be demonstrating the technique of reduction cooled wood firing.
The class costs $50 and is open to 20 participants. Each person must bring two cubic feet of work made of cone 12 clay. She is also hosting a lecture on her past work and experiences on Nov. 1-2 which will cost $30 a person. There will be discussion on reduction cooled ceramics, residency opportunities and goals; clay forming and firing. There will be a potluck dinner on Saturday evening.

Rho Theta, the MHCC honor society chapter, is partnering with Sleep Country to collect new or gently used coats for foster children.

Cosmetology to donate to breast cancer foundation
The MHCC Cosmetology Department will be donating one half of their profits received from haircuts this month to Hearts of Hope Foundation, located in Gresham, in honor of Cancer Awareness Month. Those interested in helping the organization can call their office number at 503-666-4673.
Something Wonderful – Community needs volunteers to adopt families.
Every year through the cooperation of MHCC, SnowCap and the East County community, less fortunate families are adopted and given food and clothing.
Something Wonderful started in 1994 and has adopted more than 492 families through the years. This year’s goal is to adopt 40 families.
Anyone interested should contact advising specialist Rich Duval at 503-491-7641 no later than Friday, Nov. 7. Profiles of the families will be available from SnowCap starting Monday, Nov. 10.
The Clothesline Project – Stand up Against Abuse
For six more days, the College Center will be hosting the Clothesline Project. All students are invited to come “look, feel, and celebrate” with students who have designed t-shirts as part of their healing process related to sexual violence.
