Stolen golf carts recovered by authorities

Jake Fray

The six golf carts reported stolen by the EC Company on Oct. 12 have all been recovered.

They were first reported to the Gresham Police Department and three were found abandoned in the Sandee Palisades Park on Southeast 26th Street in Troutdale.

The other three stolen carts were recovered on campus, according to Interim Public Safety Lead Officer Wayne Feagle.

According to Feagle, the first two carts were stolen Oct. 9 at 5:30 p.m. and Oct. 11 at 1 p.m.

The first two were found on campus Oct. 13 and the last cart found was last Tuesday.

“We don’t really know if they were trying to steal them or just take them for a joy ride,” said Director of Facilities Management Dick Byers. “You just never know.”

As for trying to find the people responsible for stealing the carts, Feagle said it will be unlikely to find them, as the police department is short-handed and won’t look for them without a solid lead.
