MHCC’s Ceramics Club hosted its annual pottery sale this week, where each artist displayed their work in hopes of raising enough money to meet the club’s needs.

“Most of the students show their artwork and this sale is a benefit. A portion of the money will go to students who need it and the rest will go to send students to a ceramics conference in Philadelphia,” said Carla McHatt, Ceramics Club member.

McHatt said a portion of the sale will go to Barney’s Pantry on campus to stock up on food to help those in need.

Each table at the sale represented a different artist in the club and the prices varied for each piece.

McHatt said she was inspired by Japanese ceramics and her table had teapots, mugs, plates, and a special art-piece of a strawberry wearing a necktie.

“MHCC has a good reputation for ceramics. The instructors are known around the world and without them our art piece would never be here,” said McHatt.

The club also intends to raise money for workshops that the club can benefit by learning and developing other skills.

“A lot of things can be done with clay. Just put your joy into it and every single piece in the sale is unique,” said Beverly Curtis, club member.
