Book buy-back gives students chance to recoup money
The MHCC Bookstore is holding its quarterly book buyback Monday through Friday where students can get money for their used books.
“I think it’s great to sell your books back to the school and get at least something back. Some schools don’t even offer it,” said Dona Johnston, MHCC Bookstore cashier.
The condition of the book can affect the value. “It depends if the book is used next term or a new edition comes out and the book is no longer good but could have good use,” said Johnston.
Students do not need receipts in order to sell their used books but do need a student ID, and will receive cash once the book meets the conditions of the bookstore.
“It’s a good idea, but I’m going to keep all my books. Some I’ll use all year long like my physics books and all the others that I have,” said Alex Kaminsky, MHCC student.
Issues affecting book resale values include: the bookstore may already have sufficient quantities of the book,; condition of the book may be poor or incomplete to be resold; instructor may have discontinued use of the book; or instructor may not have notified the bookstore that the book will be used again according to the MHCC bookstore posted policy.
