Venture available in Advocate newsstands

Each year, the staff of The Advocate and other journalism majors at Mt. Hood Community College produce a magazine at the end of spring quarter called Venture.

This year, the magazine features a story about a father-and-son cooking team in the Vista Dining Center, a profile about graduating Associated Student Government President Janine Johnston, a look into the lives of homeless students, and a view into the St. Helen’s Bistro, among others. There are also photographs of the MHCC Greenspace, 40 acres of property belonging to the college, that grace the front and back covers and a middle-page spread.

The magazine hit Advocate newsstands Tuesday and is available to the public for free.

Journalism adviser Bob Watkins said, “This is a great chance for our students to try a format different from newspaper writing and design. They have a good time with the new challenge and they have produced a very nice publication this year.”

For more information about Venture or to request a copy, contact The Advocate newsroom at 503-491-7250.
