After six years at MHCC, Dean of Information Resources Jan Marie Fortier will be retiring at the end of May.

Fortier is getting married and her fiancé has been retired for the past three years.

Fortier said MHCC was “the best place I’ve ever worked.” She said she’ll be leaving MHCC with a good feeling. “I love Mt. Hood, the college and the library.”
Sharon Juenemann, supervisor of the Learning Success Center, said, “Jan’s very dedicated to the library. She oversaw its remodel several years ago, which brought a huge increase in student use.”

According to Fortier, the library was dismal, but has been transformed into an excellent community college library. “Students seem to love it,” she said.
Fortier hopes to become an adjunct faculty member and teach an online writing course.

She is now teaching an online course for Emporia State University. The university specializes in library information management and is located in Kansas.
