Historical forum to discuss Occupy Portland and local protests

A forum focused on the history of protest in Portland since the 1800s will be held Thursday in Room AC1575 from 12:30-1:30 p.m.

History instructor Pat Casey said the focus will be the Occupy Portland movement and how it relates to protests held in Portland in the past.
He said MHCC counselor Dawn Forrester will be at the forum to discuss her experience as a protestor of the 2003 Iraq war.
History instructor Elizabeth Milliken will share her experiences protesting the 2003 Iraq war.

A member of Occupy Portland, Joel Williams, will also be at the meeting to share his involvement in this movement.
Casey also said he will share the history on the Battle of the Park Blocks event in 1970, which primarily included protests by Portland State University students.

After each speaker, there will be time for questions from the audience.
