A heartfelt ‘farewell’

Congratulations to resilient new grads

Hey, MHCC students and staff: I hope you’re doing well and taking care of your mental health, especially with everything that has taken place recently.

The term is quickly coming to a close and summer is fast approaching, even though we have had more rain than sun lately! Take care to take a break from the books and enjoy the sunshine as much as possible when we do get it – whether it be by opening the curtains and letting some sunlight in, or taking a walk and enjoying some fresh air.

Now, I don’t know about you all and I hope you guys are in the same boat as me, but I feel truly accomplished this term! We as a group all took on so much these last few years: a pandemic, shutdowns, personal loss, chaos, inflation, and so much more, and yet we never gave up! We kept pushing and fighting our way to the top because we knew bigger and better things awaited us.

We deserve to have an amazing summer and to let our hair down (and maybe even have a few drinks) because, guys, we did it! A lot of us are graduating this term and either going on to universities, going into careers, taking time off to spend with family, working, or just seeing what else is out there.

Just like me. there are also our transfer students – yes, this is my last term at Mt. Hood and it has definitely been a wild ride, as I’m sure it’s been for so many of you, but it has been so fulfilling because I’ve met so many interesting people and made so many connections and I’m going to miss this place and the people I’ve met in my time here.

Commencement Day will be June 11 from 10 a.m. to –1 p.m. and even though it will be a drive-through ceremony it is still a huge accomplishment for those who are graduating.

Let’s do amazing on our finals, and go out with a bang, guys! Have a great summer and even though I won’t see you guys next term, I hope you all keep on doing amazing, impactful things
