Associated Students of MHCC to hold election

Hold on: Campaign season isn’t over just yet – not at Mt. Hood.

MHCC will hold its first election in three years for student body president and vice president over the next three weeks, culminating with an online student vote ending Dec. 2.
The fast-moving process was announced Nov. 10 by Rozina Lethe, student leadership and engagement coordinator who oversees the Associated Students (student government) of Mt. Hood, formally the ASMHCC.

Two candidates apiece will square off for the two positions (see the hyperlinks for detailed biographies).
All four currently serve in Student Government positions.

Running for president are Cheyenne Winchell, ASMHCC graphic design and promotions representative; and Sory Ibrahim Diarra, academic affairs representative.

Vice president contenders are Javier Estrada, community affairs and outreach representative, and Erick Solano, legislative affairs representative.

Voting by currently registered Mt. Hood students will be held online, conducted Nov. 28 through Dec. 2.

Two meet-and-greet sessions have been set for students to directly question the candidates, tentatively planned inside the Student Union. (Those unable to attend may alternatively submit questions.) The sessions are:

  • Thursday, Nov. 17, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Monday, Nov. 21, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Candidates also will share responses on ASMHCC social media platforms.
