MHCC math instructor Scott Weaver will host a hands-on exploration of the counting board – the oldest known device used for serious calculations, and a precursor to the modern abacus.

In this latest discussion of “Dead Math,” visitors will get a chance to do math as it has been done for millennia: with pieces on a gameboard, rather than with a pencil on paper.

The event will be held in Room 2732, between 3:15 p.m. and 4:15 p.m.
