Advocate writer glad to contribute

Aurora Myers, or “Rory,” is a writer for the Advocate who predominantly works on the arts and entertainment section and someone who has shown amazing leadership skills and a fun personality, and who was amazing to work with this term. I’m really glad to have gotten to know them!

Q) What made you want to join The Advocate?

A) I’ve always had a deep interest in journalism and wanted to use that interest to get involved with the school more, other than just being a student. When I got the (recruitment) email from the Advocate looking for new staff, it felt right to join and I feel honored that I got to become a part of something so beautiful so quickly. I felt welcome right away.

Q) How would you describe your time with the team?

A) I have found people who I can honestly say I enjoy working with and being around, and a team to be a part of, even with differences in opinion amongst individuals. I’ve enjoyed my time on the Advocate immensely and am excited to continue growing here as a writer, a person, and as a voice for the school.

Q) Do you plan on returning?

A) I plan to return to the Advocate in the fall term and am honestly bummed we aren’t continuing it through the summer. But it’ll give me lots of time to keep a log of ideas to help jump-start the fall term issues.

Q) Any parting words till next term?

A) I have felt purpose here and am honored that I’ve been able to have any sort of role in reaching the students of Mt. Hood CC, and just a place to write on subjects I’m passionate about. I’m grateful that I get to continue to be a part of a paper with such amazing individuals that allow me to be myself and who also help each other become better at writing and anything that they do.
