The Advocate brings home 15 awards
The independent student voice of Mt. Hood Community College, The Advocate, brought home 15 awards at the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association’s 2014 Collegiate Day on Friday, racking up three more awards than last year.
Honors include second place General Excellence honors, based on judges’ cover-to-cover assessment of three complete issues; first place Best Section and Best Website; and second place Best Design.
The newspaper competed against two-year schools across the state, as well as non-daily newspapers at Oregon universities in some categories. Results were announced at Linn-Benton Community College in Albany, following break-out seminars for student journalists.
The Advocate publishes 31 times a year and is multi-faceted. Video features are produced weekly and posted on the website, and the paper maintains a strong social media presence.

Congratulations guys! That’s awesome. I am so jealous. You deserve it. Maybe take a second (okay, 1/2 an hour probably) and link the list above to the stories, photos that won they for? DK. Great job, though. I am seriously so jealous. It seems like just a week ago we were all there booing The Emerald and “The Torch.” 😛
