Volleyball places fourth in NWAACCs

The MHCC Saint’s volleyball team placed fourth at the NWAACC Championship on Saturday, after falling to Walla Walla Community College in the Loser’s Bracket.

The Saint’s opened up their championship tournament play against Wenatchee Valley last Thursday, making short work of the Knights in a three-game sweep (25-17, 25-16, 25-17).

The following day, the Saints continued to dominate the scoreboard against Bellevue in another sweep (25-22, 25-18, 25-19), before going on to play Blue Mountain Community College that same day.

In this very tight match-up, the Saints lost the first two sets (in a best out of five) against Blue Mountain, before swinging back into their groove in the next two games, winning both and tying the match up 2-2. But the Timberwolves proved too much for the Saints, who lost the last set. The final scores of each game were, 25-21, 25-21, 17-25, 23-25 and 15-11.

After losing to Blue Mountain, the Saints fell into the loser’s bracket, where they opened up with a comfortable win against Tacoma on Saturday (25-19, 25-20).

That same day, MHCC took on Walla Walla, losing in a close 2-1 match (25-17, 21-25, 15-13).

After defeating the Saints on Friday night, Blue Mountain fought its way all the way to the title match, which it won against Spokane 25-18, 25-17 and 25-12, making the Timberwolves the 2012 NWAACC Champions.
