‘The Circle’ hits the mark

Netflix series entertains

Hello, MHCC students and staff – this term is coming to an end very soon and yet it feels like it just started.

With the looming stress of dances and graduation or transferring and moving onto bigger and brighter things in life, sometimes we all need to just take a night – or even a whole day, if possible – to just lay in bed, stuff our face, and binge on our favorite show or, even get into a new show.

Now I know most, if not all of us, have access to the streaming platform Netflix (and hey, if you don’t, don’t stress, just ask your friend or your parents!) and if you haven’t already seen or heard of it, the latest, fourth season of “The Circle” is now available. Netflix describes it as “a lighthearted yet strategic competition series where the players can choose to play as themselves or other people while playing for a huge cash prize.”

I have just started watching the new season and can I just say, the tea is hot! While all episodes aren’t out yet and the next few will be released on Wednesday (May 18), I am already on the edge of my seat waiting for my next fix. You will fall in love with the players’ personalities and will laugh more than a few times at their antics and goofy moments and shenanigans. And did I not mention the Spice Girls are actually on the show?!

They won’t be the only familiar players you will recognize, as these faces have been dominating social media, whether it be TikTok, Instagram or whatever else. To start off the season, we will have Alyssa Ljubicich, Josh Brubaker, Crissa Jackson, Frank Grimsley, John Franklin, Parker Abbott, and Yu Ling Wu – and these ain’t be the only faces we will be seeing through the season. This show is super-fun to watch and really easy to get into, and will have your jaw dropping at some points because there are just some unexpected moments and even some serious shade throwing amongst certain players.

While I said you will fall in love with these goofy, loveable personalities, do not get attached to a player, even if you want to root for their win. Because you never know if they will get voted out and, trust me, that part hurts the most, especially if you were already a fan of theirs.

If you’re looking for a binge-worthy show that, in my opinion, has almost everything such as the right amount of drama, some shade, perfect comedic timing, a bit of flirting and even some heartfelt moments, then this is the show for you.  And even though I still have to wait for the rest of the shows to air, I know it will be worth itt because I know what I will see ahead will be even better! So, before I leave you all, just remember not everything is how it seems – and also, no spoilers!
