Club Fair features carnival theme

Mt. Hood’s spring term Club Fair will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. in the Main Mall and features a carnival theme where students will be able to play carnival games while getting acquainted with the various clubs the college has to offer.

On Thursday, the fair will continue off campus, at Mt. Hood Lanes, from 9:30 p.m. to midnight. The clubs will have their stations set up in the lobby. It will be “very similar to what you have seen in the past with club fair, except it will be free bowling for people, and they could come and bowl, and interact with the clubs,” said Emma Bird, Mt. Hood ASG’s director of Student Organizations and Clubs.

Each club will be in charge of a game, such as double-up basketball, a rock wall, the classic balloon dart game and other carnival classics. “In doing that, we hope students will come up, and interact with the club members when they are playing their different carnival games,” said Bird.

Club members will hand out raffle tickets which can be redeemed for different prizes, she said.

The idea for a club theme was agreed upon by the student organizations council, where Bird chairs the meetings. “We collectively decided that a carnival would be a great way to draw a large number of people because it will be spring, and they’ll want to come have fun and see all these really cool attractions,” she said.

The Club Fair will have traditional carnival food, such as pretzels and corn dogs. “We’re not confirmed on the fried Twinkies yet, but we are definitely trying to get those, as well, and just make it as realistic as possible,” said Bird.

All Club Fair events are free of charge for MHCC students.
