As we all know, the late autumn/early winter season has arrived. It’s getting darker super-early now, it’s colder… It’s now the time where we just stay inside, right?

Nope! Not at all!

Just because it’s cold and wet doesn’t mean you need to stay inside your humble abode all the time. A lot of us struggle with seasonal depression, including me. I know how hard it is to have the motivation to do anything, especially when it is getting dark this early in the day. It’s not fun. But we can make it fun. There are ways to prevent seasonal depression or, at least, lessen the affects of it.

Often, relief is as simple as just getting out of the house and going for a short walk. Staying active in the simplest of ways, such as going to the store, can lift your spirits. Or instead, maybe it’s as simple as starting a puzzle at the dining room table.

Keeping busy, inside or outside, is a fantastic way to prevent the dark and cold times to reflect how you might feel constantly. Personally I like to get out and do photography and use my photos to make others happy. In return, this makes me happier.

I love winter, but while the dark and cold days tend to make it hard to enjoy, these or different simple and easy ways in which to keep busy will help you and others.Just be sure if you need to talk to someone about being depressed, don’t bottle it in because that will make it harder to deal with your feelings. As for me, I can’t bottle my feelings in and I have experienced the struggles of keeping them in check. Talking to someone helps.

This dark and colder period doesn’t have to be something you dread. Especially in December, it is supposed to be a happy, cheery season!

Besides these tips, you can always do more research about how to best help yourself during these times.
