MHCC Multicultural Holiday Celebration

MHCC’s Multicultural Holiday Celebration was hosted in the Student Union on Monday. And while the numbers of visitors dwindled as the hours passed, booths based on holidays from around the world stayed up.

Around the room, there was a handful of different cultures on display, each one featured at a table with an activity. Each had something to draw you in: paper candles from the Kwanzaa table; wooden Stars of David from the Hanukkah table; sugar skulls and photos of loved ones on the Dia De Los Muertos table.

Traditional Indian henna tattooing was also offered in the spirit of multiculturalism.

Mt. Hood’s Associated Student Government hoped to bring students together and celebrate the blending of cultures. The group encouraged visitors with a buffet of food, offered free of charge, and a green-screen photo booth. Although the number of guests during late afternoon was small, there was laughter and soft, warm light that filled the Student Union.
